October 1, 2013

Lausanne, 30 September 2013 – It is a great honour to have “The Dragon” represent Kickboxing at 2013 World Combat Games. Wilson had a long and successful career in the ring. He was perhaps the best known and most successful kickboxer of his era. He is 11-time World Kickboxing Champion, a Martial Arts Hall of Famer, a kickboxer who has scored 47 knockouts in a 5-decade career, and an action-film star.

Wilson’s athletic career includes a large array of Martial Arts world titles. Having never been challenged for his title, Wilson voluntarily retired to move down to the Light Heavyweight Division, where he eventually retired from fighting a few years later. Wilson has established himself as a hard working Hollywood action star, having starred in 29 films since his film career began in 1989. He has had as many as five films released within a fourteen month period. His most recent effort is an intense Sci-Fi Action film called “The Last Sentinel”, which he considers one of his best, and other such as “Futurekick”, “Bloodfist”, “Ring of Fire”, “Out for Blood”, “Operation Cobra”, “Blackbelt”, “Cyber Tracker”, “Redemption”, “Say Anything…”, “Capitol Conspiracy”, and “Batman Forever”.

Espen Lund, the Acting President of WAKO; the World Governing Body for Kickboxing, commented on the announcement.; “We are delighted with the Dragon’s involvement as our ambassador, his fight record is astonishing and his transition into film was a seamless one. We are proud to have him as our ambassador.”
