Important information to all participants arriving to Wroclaw for the World Games 2017

Wroclaw is the capital city of region Lower Silesia. It has 640 000 inhabitants, plus 150 000 students who live and study in this University town. Wrocław attracts tourists like a magnet with its location, mild climate, interesting historical sites and hospitable citizens. It lies on the Odra River which branches out to form 12 islands of varying size.

It has a long tradition of organizing prestigious international events: UEFA European Football Championship, Theatre Olympics, The Gala of European Film Awards, Volley ball World Championship, European Handball Championship, and Wroclaw was the UNESCO World Book Capital as well as European Capital of Culture.

For this occasion, Olympic Swimming pool, roller-skating track and Olympic Stadium has been renovated.

Polish President Andrzej Duda is a honorary patron of The World Games, Ministry of Sport and Tourism, Polish Olympic Committee and numerous partners, educational institutions and sponsors are included in to organization of The World Games 2017.

Polish language is primary, but one can use English language for easy communication as well.

Currency: Polish Zloty (PLN), 1 EUR = c.a. 4.25 PLN, 1 USD = c.a. 3.90 PLN

Electricity: the power sockets are of type E. The standard voltage is 230 V.

Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony of the Games took place on 20th July 2017 at Wrocław Stadium at 19.00 and it was the first such a significant spectacle organized in Wrocław, with approximately 35.000 participants including spectators, athletes, volunteers, journalists, special guests and various artists.

The World Games Plaza

The World Games Plaza will be a place for fans to meet and have a good time throughout the duration of the Games, daily from 15.00 till 23.00, at Wolności Square. The best athlete of the day will be selected every day and will be announced publicly at The World Games Plaza. Each winner will receive a watch, presented by Tissot. Presentation of Athlete of the Day will start at 19:45.

Arrival of the participants to Wroclaw

All participants who arrive to Wrocław Airport will be welcomed at the Information Desk in the arrivals hall and directed to proper busses departing to their accommodation places.
Dedicated buses will be properly signed.
TWG buses will be parked in the front of the Terminal, on the third lane.
To make procedure quicker and easier, please check the name of your accommodation place before arrival and follow the steps below:

1. Collect your luggage and go to the arrivals hall.
2. There will be shuttle bus stop in front of the Terminal.
3. Go to the Information Desk if you need any additional support.
4. Get on a bus signed with the name of your Sport.

Accreditation procedure

All the participants will be accredited upon their arrival at their accommodation place.
The accreditation card is personal, non-transferable and compulsory to gain access to the opening/closing ceremony, the training and competition venues, Catering Centre as well as the WOC´s official transportation system for Athletes and Officials.
The accreditation card identifies individuals participating in The World Games 2017 and indicates their access rights to the different zones listed in the Accreditation Badge.
Access control will be conducted at the entrance to restricted areas and while entering official buses. The Accreditation Badge allows free entrance to each competition venue on the athletes’ stand but please note that venue capacities are limited, so there are no reservations on the athletes’ stands available.
All participants are required to wear the Accreditation Badge at any time in the official zones.

To collect your accreditation badge (at the accommodation place), please follow steps below:

1. Prepare your Passport or ID-card (the same document which was passed to your International Federation for your registration purposes).
2. Go to an accreditation desk.
3. Sign a statement regarding insurance, doping control, personal data, use of image rights and the terms of use of accreditation.
4. Check all data in the accreditation badge. In case of any mistakes, inform accreditation staff immediately.
5. If everything is correct, you have just been officially accredited for TWG 2017 and since this moment you can use all your access rights and privileges.

LOST, STOLEN OR DAMAGED ACCREDITATION CARD MUST BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY TO THE NEAREST ACCREDITATION FACILITY .

Departure from Wrocław

All the departure details will be available in the accommodation centre on the information boards. The bus lines marked with the airport sign will take you on your departure day from accommodation place to Wrocław Airport.
