WAKO European Kickboxing Championship for older cadets and juniors was held in Budva, Montenegro, from 5th-14th November 2021.
Strict covid regulations and safety protocols were the reasons why we hadn’t younger ages at the torunament, bur for sure managing a Championship of this kind was a great success.
Guided by the Olympic safety protocols from the last Olympiade, trying to manage everything in the safe and isolated conditions, the organizer has finished 9 days of tournament with only two Covid positive cases, one of them was an external supporter. With more than 2500 participants at one event, this was for sure a great success.
Gathering of the youth in this year was a must for WAKO because the junior and older cadet groups were able to compete for the European Champion titles again, after such a long time missed since 2019.
This competition marked the end of the activity season for WAKO. Even if it was full of obstacles, it was also full of success.
The best award for our efforts to remain in continuity in sport events was attendance of such large numbers: 39 countries and 1418 starts at the fighting field.
WAKO and WAKO Europe want to thank all the kickboxers, coaches, referees, officials and supporters for showing personal commitment to have such a fantastic event.
