A SUNNY CHAMPIONSHIP

November 13, 2007

Castro Marim, an historical old town in Algarve (Portugal) just hosted our 1st European Cadet-Junior Championships where we had the pleasure to host 751 competitors representing 21 countries, indeed a remarkable figure.

The event, promoted by the Portuguese Kickboxing Federation leaded by Mrs. Ana Vital Melo (who is a lawyer in her civil life), was also supported by another town in Algarve, Vila Real Do S.Antonio which is really at the border with Spain, in the south of the country. We have to thank Mrs. Melo and her staff in particular, because they were extremely kind to everybody and worked very hard to make everything working according to our needs.

The almost 1000 people involved in the championships (considering coaches, officials, families and fans) could also enjoy a real lovely weather for the whole week and that helped to make our event even a bigger success.

People enjoied staying and training on the long sandy beaches there and the young kids, once in the sport-hall, gave us a real good time in performing at their best. It was really amazing to watch those young ones kicking and punching with superb skill like veterans both on mats and in the rings.

In the end, Russia was the first country in the nations’ medals, followed by surprising Croatia (only 4 million people), Hungary and Italy in the order.

To enjoy all official results, please be so kind to wait a few weeks and we will have soon in our new web site all last 30 years official results.
