Virtual Coaching certifying program and Youth forums in WAKO Canada

February 9, 2021

WAKO Canada continues to be a lead organization with sport in Canada during the COVID pandemic, and is chairing a Committee of all government recognized combat sport organizations. This work allowed WAKO Canada clubs to remain open during gym lockdowns with strictly designated regulations. The combative sport organizations are now developing a ‘return to sport’ strategy using field tested data and access to pilot sites. The hope is to allow for the return to competition in the near future

WAKO Canada has now held 3 virtual Coaching Clinics to certify over 120 coaches from across the country.

WAKO Canada has also been targeting programs for young athletes and all youth who have been feeling the challenge of lockdowns and restrictions of their normal activities. We have now hosted 3 virtual Youth Forums with key youth discussing their concerns and how they are staying positive

The latest Youth Forum held this past month featured WAKO World K1 Champion –Farinaz Lari –who spoke about facing hardship as a Muslim woman involved in combat sport. Her story was an inspiration to the hundreds of young listeners. Farinaz reminded everyone to look for every positive element in a seemingly bleak situation and never give up on your dreams.
