Kickboxing on the programme at the Youth Festival – Festival Dakar En Jeux. A festival under the patronage by the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2026. Espen Lund, WAKO 1st Vice President, made his second visit to Dakar and met with the organizer of the Festival, the YOG, and exchanged ideas and possibilities. Busy days with NOC President Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye, YOG General Coordinator Ibrahima Wade, Sport Director Balla Dieye. The same weekend IOC had the YOG Coordination meeting and Espen Lund and WAKO Senegal President (also working in the YOD organizing Committee) Yakhya Diop joined some meetings and site visits for Dakar 2026.
Not to say the fantastic great showcasing of K1 at the Youth Festival at an outdoor venue open for the public. It was great high level fights and a great promotion of the greatest combat sport today. Some great days and thanks to the international delegates from South Africa, Italy, Ivory Coast and Lithuania coming to Dakar to create history. More importantly, thanks to Yakhya Diop to make it happen and for the great hospitality showing us. A big thank to the WAKO Gold Sponsor RDX providing equipment and clothing.
