Our president Ennio Falsoni is just back from Baku, literally “the town of winds” as it is known, the capital of Azerbaijan where he had an important meeting with Minister of Youth and Sport Mr. Azad Rahimov, in the picture with all leaders of Azerbaijan Kicboxing and Muay Thai Federation.
During the cordial meeting, Minister Rahimov told president Falsoni about the huge investments Azerbaijan is making in sport structures and sport activities in general. The country is running to get the 2016 Olympic Games and hosted in 2007, among others, international tournaments in many sports as Taekwondo and Judo European championships.
Mr. Rahimov expressed his desire to see a big international kickboxing event soon in his country and he is ready to support it in any possible way.
Mr. Falsoni went to Baku on the kind invitation of Mr. Adil Aliyev who has been leading the Kickboxing Federation since 2001.Under his leadership, Azerbaijan fighters won important medals in WAKO European and World Championships. Just to mention, in 2007 Belgrade World Championships, Azerbaijan finished third as a nation immediately after Russia and Serbia, the hosting country. That’s speak by itself about quality of fighters and level of organization.
During his two days’ visit, Mr Adil Aliyev and Falsoni, and leaders of Azeri Federation, paid a tribute to the tomb of former Azerbaijan president, Mr. Aydar Aliyev, founder of the Republic of Azerbaijan and father of present leader of the country Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and to the Garabagh’s deads in the war against Armenia to get their land back.
