I can honestly say that I have never seen anything like that in my life! It happened in Milano, in my town, last week-end. Under the sanctioning of the Italian Kickboxing Federation, in 2 different sport-halls we had 2 different events in kickboxing almost simultaneously. On Saturday, March 13 we had in one sport-hall called “Palalido” the first day of the Italian Championships in light contact and ring sports (full contact, low-kick and K1 Rules), while in the evening at “Palasharp” – a much bigger venue – we had the 15th edition of OKTAGON, a famous kickboxing Gala promoted by Carlo Di Blasi, a councillor of the Italian federation. Well, we had in 2 days’ competitions 1257 competitors in the Italian Championships and about 5000 spectators in the 2 days, while OKTAGON itself had the incredible audience of 10.000 people! gentlemen, the sport-hall was really packed, a record in the record. Among the audience, at ringside, important VIP people like Giorgio Armani and many others from the fashion world. We had also new American friends like Bill Pestano (LEGACY ) and Tom Hazelton from DARE, who will soon sign a contract of cooperation with WAKO. In any case, those incredible figures can only confirm the fantastic moment Kickboxing is living!
