2013 SPORTACCORD QUALIFICATION and WAKO ASIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY
After a long suspense, 2012 WAKO Asian Championships were held with great success from 25-30 December 2012 in Pune, India.
Extraordinary work of Mr Nasser Nassiri, WAKO Vice President who took in his charge the whole organization of the Championships with collaboration of Maharashtra Kickboxing Association – MKBA, leaded by Mr. C A Tamboli &rdash President MKBA & Vice President WAKO India, and granted the event a enormous success.
At the same occasion WAKO Asia General Assembly was held with the presence and representation of presidents and delegates from member’s countries on 26 December 2012 at Hotel ORCHID, the five stars hotel where all delegation was staying and served as headquarters of the competition. Just 5 minutes walking to the sport hall.
During the general Assembly the updated WAKO Asia Statutes as well as its Bylaws have been adopted.
The mandate of the board members was defined and the new members were jointed the board.
Mr. Nasser Nassiri (IRI) was appointed by unanimously decision of the General Assembly as the new President of WAKO Asian Kickboxing Federation and acting as General Secretary. The General Assembly also appointed the members of the Board of Directors.
Shortly after the General Assembly, the referee/Judge Seminar and team manger meeting were held at the headquarters of competition with very important participation.
Because of some internal incident raised in mid December in India restricting the entry of some foreign countries citizen in India, many of our members couldn’t have their entry visa on time and only 15 Asian countries participated and were present at the Championships in Pune with a little more than 170 competitors distributed in Point Fighting, Full Contact and Low-Kick, the 3 styles competition.
120 referees, judges and coach and more than 50 voluntaries took part in Asian Championships.
All delegation, official and referees/Judges stayed at Hotel ORCHID one of the most prestigious hotels in Pune.
For the first time in Asia, we used the new scoring system for both Ring and Tatami competitions with success.
Paolo Leoni from Italian Kickboxing Federation travelled from Italy to Pune to assist WAKO ASIA during the 3 full day’s competition with the administration work related to draw and scoring system.
An excellent job was done by both Nasser Nassiri, WAKO Vice President and leader of WAKO Asia and C. A. Tamboli, Vice President of WAKO India and the president of MKBA by including in the program various national cultural program during opening ceremony, break time and award ceremony.
The competition was in very high level with participation of ranked athletes from all five Asian Zone (West, Central, South, South East and East Asia).
