WAKO IN LAUSANNE IF FORUM

November 19, 2008

Ennio Falsoni and Espen Lund were in Lausanne where Sportaccord (under the patronage of IOC and GAISF) held its annual IF Forum at Movenpick Hotel.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the IF Sports Forum, through its co-operation with SportAccord has continued to offer an enhanced knowledge exchange platform with a programme of workshops and addresses designed to be of specific value to the International Federations.

We had lectures from experts and prominent sport managers and leaders on themes like : Crash Course in Crisis management; Creating News and generating press coverage; Looking after press and the media at your event; Transferring knowledge for good sport event management; Building and managing a team of volunteer staff; Developing leaders for the future; Creating revenues from sports content; Your website-making it work and reaching today’s audience; Financial management and better budgeting; Risk assestment for your sport and your organization; Managing partnerships and collaborations.

Useless to say that some themes were extremely interesting and useful. But the IF Forum is not just an opportunity to increase our knowledge in how to run a Federation or a big event. It is a great opportunity to meet the people who lead sports in the world and who make today’s sport history. An opportunity to create links to Media in general and to know who is who in the different fields, to create the network any leader need to improve his organization.

In Lausanne, the IF Forum were officially opened by Mr. Jacques Rogge himself, the IOC president and we had the great opportunity to take a picture together with him, as you can see.
