WAKO to attend the WADA World Conference on Doping in Sport

WAKO represented by Board of Directors member and Director Of Anti Doping, Roy Baker will be attending the WADA World Conference on Doping in Sport in Madrid on 15 &rdash 17th November.
WAKO takes a very responsible approach to doping in sport and are determined to ensure that the sport of kickboxing continues to lead in the world of martial Arts in the implementation and adherence to the WADA Code, within its sport internationally and nationally.

Conference Opening

The conference will be opened officially by:

· President of the Spanish Government, Mr José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero;

· Secretary of State, President of the High Council for Sport, Mr Jaime Lissavetzky Díez;

· IOC President, Dr Jacques Rogge;

· UNESCO Director-General, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura; and

· WADA President, Mr Richard W. Pound, QC.

In addition to the key note speakers who will address the Conference at the Opening Ceremony on 15 November, the following speakers will present to the Conference participants (as at 4 October):

Conference Closing

Aims and Objetives

The work of the Conference will be centred on the World Anti-Doping Code review process. The Conference will enable the international sports movement and governments worldwide to discuss the proposed changes to the Code and its related standards. The objective will be to achieve commitment by WADA stakeholders to the adoption of the revised version.

The Conference will also provide the opportunity for WADA to inform the anti-doping world of its activities and achievements since its inception, as well as the opportunity to present the way forward in the future of anti-doping.
